GOOG Sundae

Holy sweet mother of GOOG… it was snowing again today… Seriously… so we needed something happy today and this baby is the BEST!  If you’re ever in Winnipeg, during the summer, then you have to stop in at the Bridge Drive Inn and have a GOOG.  We used to live just blocks away from the BDI and one summer we made it our mission to try each one of their specialties.  We absolutely fell in love with the GOOG and when the BDI closed for the winter we were heart broken.

And what does someone do when they become addicted to something wonderful????  Well, if you’re a foodie then you just recreate it at home.  The only difference with the homemade version is that I didn’t use the blueberry sauce that they used, instead I used frozen blueberries… it is a little less sweet but just as yummy.

So on a day like today… when we had snow mid-morning… NO KIDDING… I came home and thought… “holy sweet mother of GOOG” if spring isn’t coming… I’m just going to PRETEND!  And so here’s how you make spring happen at your house, if it happens to be snowing at the end of April…  :)

The BDI “GOOG”

  • banana
  • blueberries
  • chocolate sauce
  • ice cream (vanilla or chocolate or swirl… you decide)
  • whipping cream
  • something red (I added candied hearts)

Layer thusly, banana slices, blueberries and chocolate sauce… ice cream… banana, blueberries and chocolate sauce….. more ice cream…. keep layering until you run out of room then top with whipping cream…. and a little something red… just for a cheery lil colour.

Enjoy a tasty summer day!

Delicious! The dripping chocolate sauce is nearly making me drool! And by the way, I’m in love with that glass.
